Development of a technical system solution for partial automation of the production of fibre composite moulded parts

The applicant sees enormous potential in the digitisation of different production processes to increase production. The applicant intends to use a prototype to achieve state-of-the-art technology in the requested process innovation and to exceed it for certain production areas. The prototype should include the following aspects:

  • Access control, registration of employees at respective production island
  • Interface for industrial automation
  • digital logistic collection with industrial identification of stocks
  • digital production control and monitoring

The challenge for the requested process innovation exists for the applicant in the organizational and technical integration of the process into the existing production processes. It is imperative not to obstruct or restrict ongoing operations in order to be able to meet existing production capacities. The overarching goal of process innovation is to increase current production capacities and qualities as well as to consolidate / increase the current market position.

Components made of foam resin GRP in vacuum-assisted series production

The topic of GRP components made of foam resin in vacuum-assisted series production has not yet been explored in detail. In the case of the achievement of the desired design and manufacturing solutions there would be advantages for transport and final assembly. The applicant expects the project to generate a considerable increase in know-how and will thus be able to extend its range of services to the area of additional components made of foam resin GRP. Comparable services are not yet offered in the supplier area.

The big challenge is clearly in the consistent high quality of the components, particularly in high volumes (repeatability). To date, the components are manufactured in classic hand laminates. These not only have a high weight impact, but must be reworked which often is labour intesive.

This innovative approach is based on the logical preparation of the manufacturing technology, so that the additional effort is kept as low as possible.

The surface of the components must meet very high requirements. The requirement of the customers for high quantities can be realised certainly by the supportive use of vacuum.
